100% Attendance Bike Raffle

At the end of every year we have a raffle with  the names of all of the children who have achieved 100% attendance during the school year.  We had 56 children in total- 6 more than last year! This year the winners were : Brooke in 40 and Lukas in 5G who accompanied Mrs. Lomax to Halfords. Grace in 6F has been at school every single day for 4 years so also won a bike of her choice.

An amazing job to everybody who achieved 100% attendance and we hope to have even more names in the pot next year.

World Para Athletics Trip

On Monday 17th July, 40 of our children with most improved and 100% attendance were given the opportunity to attend the World Para Athletics Championships at the Olympic Stadium.

The children witnessed Team GB competing in a range athletic activties  and they even won a gold medal whilst we were there. A fantastic opportunity for our children to see some inspirational athletes in action!

Schools for Success Recognition

We were delighted to receive a letter from The Mayor of London to congratulate us on our 2016 Year 6 SATs results and the progress that our Pupil Premium pupils made with the support we put in place.

Belvedere Junior School is now registered with this programme and will recieve an award when Mrs. Lomax visits City Hall in London on 29th September 2017. Watch this space for the photographs!

Author visit -Ian MacDonald

We have been working hard this year to inspire our children to want to read more at home. On Monday 10th July we were delighted to welcome Ian Mac Donald to our school. He immersed the children in literature he has written and he shared some his published books such as 'The Mummy's Finger'.

Lots of children bought signed copies of his books after school as a momento. A fantastic day was had by all and thanks go to Mrs. Turner for organising this for us all to enjoy.

The Pioneer Academy Golf Competition

Tuesday 20th June 2017 saw the culmination of an ongoing project supported by the Golf Foundation, where 8 of our children were taken by coach to the Bromley Golf Centre to compete in a competition against Burnt Oak Juniors.

The competition was fierce and the behaviour was even better! We are very proud of how our children represented Belvedere Juniors and the Pioneer academy.

Year 6 return from Isle of Wight

Year 6 returned safely from the Isle of Wight on Friday afternoon. Lots of tearful reunions were had and they will be telling stories about their adventures for the next 5 weeks and beyond.  Make sure you look on the Isle of Wight 2017 tab to see what they got up to each day!

Wellbeing Day

On Friday 12th May, to help celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, the whole school took part in a range of activities to promote wellbeing. Shooting Stars Circus taught workshops to enable the learning of new skills and build up resilience amongst our children and staff! The children also took part in activities such as smoothie making and circuits classes. Great fun was had by all.

On Friday 26th May the children came to school dressed as various historical figures.. We had  Queen Victoria, Albert Einstein and several Suffragettes all over the playground! The day was wonderfully organised by Mrs. Kalsi who held an assembly to engage the children with the history of Britain and why this day is so important for us to celebrate.

Glorious Golf

We are widening the range of sports offered to the children in our school. After weekly golf lessons with Mr. Senington, a group of 12 pupils have been specially selected  to receive specialist golf tuition from Tim, the golf professional from Bromley Magpie Golf Course. They will have been having lessons after school so watch out for some familiar names in the future as the next Rory Mcllroy may be currently in our school!

Last week our year 5 and 6 girls were lucky enough to be invited to Burnt Oak Juniors to listen to the inspirational Natalia Cohen speak.  She told of her incredible journey sailing across the Pacific in the first ever solely female crew.  She spoke of joy, pain, sufferring and achievement. Many of our girls were truly inspired by her words of encouragement to take everything one step at a time - make sure you ask them all about it!

Year 5 Architect Visit

Year 5 were very fortunate to have four architects come to Belvedere to work with them to link with their ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ topic. The children had a fabulous time designing and building dens inspired by shapes found in nature, using only bamboo canes and old sheets. The results were impressive and the children's structures were soon put to the test when we had a night of torrential rain. Most of the dwellings remained intact afterwards, which proves that the children had learnt much from nature about good design. They also raised over £50 for the Save the Children 'Build a Den Day'.
